Hi Paul,
What do you think,Would she have been baptized in a Chapel and married in a church.I hate taking up so much of your time,there are so many people with so many questions,and you seem to help them all.I bet you don't realize you make my heart flutter,everytime i see your name on my email my heart starts thumping,did he find her,then it opens and i am crushed,what an effect you have on me.LOL
Whatever you think is fine with me,it looks like i just might have to be happy with what i know,which is an awful lot compared to when i started this journey.
    Warmest Regards  Joyce

Baner ac Amserau Cymru (Denbigh, Wales), Saturday, March 2, 1895;

I found a report of Maria`s death in this paper.
Maria Ellis Of Penymynnydd, Tremeirchion.
 Unfortunately it`s in Welsh.
It only mentions Thomas Jones, Nantglyn, Tanygraig,  Ishmael Jones, Hafoty Las, Nantglyn
She died the 19th Feb and was buried on the 23rd.

There`s nothing in later papers I can find, but thats not to say there isn`t an obituary somewhere.

Have sent a PM

 Jones - you are kidding  ::) ::) ::).
But I have got Maria back to 1841.

This definitely seems to be Maria, what a woman ! At least 10 children and it seems that she ran the farm practically on her own for many years. She never remarried which I thought was quite unusual.
Are these her husband and son? I wonder how George died, he seemed to be pretty fit fathering all those children, perhaps an accident?

Is this George the youngest son?

A very kind member of the CFHS has translated the newspaper article for me, and it is very interesting indeed.

TREMEIRCHION
'He is buried at a very advanced age'. Tuesday, 19th February,
 Mrs Maria Ellis, Pen y mynydd of this parish died at the fine old age of 84, having been a widow for 45 years.
The deceased was the ninth child of the late Mr Thomas Jones,
Tan y graig, Nantglyn.
Three are still alive, one brother and two sisters.
That brother is the staunch Liberal and well-known Disestablishmentarian, Mr Ishmael Jones, Hafoty Isa, Nantglyn, whom we are pleased to say has had an excellent recovery from the serious accident he had some time ago.
 We  Liberals of Tremeirchion wish him a long life.
Mrs Ellis' interment was held on Saturday the 23rd of this month in the parish churchyard officiated by the vicar.

 I think this might be Ishmael

Hi Wilcoxon,
Thank you so much for your reply.Yes Maria's maiden name was Jones,parentsThomas and Jane from Nantglyn.She was baptized Oct.27 1811.Yes so many children,thats why i hoped there might be an Obit.George was 42 when he died,i have the death cert and it doesn't say cause of death,it just says, decline not certified, and was witnessed by his brother Edward living in Whitford.Death was July 7 1849.I haven't even started on that side yet,if you come across any of them,please let me know.The mystery is, if you look at the dates, some of the children are born after his death.Sarah Ann Davies is the one i am after,she is my grandmother,but i don't know who her parents are.George the youngest son was still living at Pen y Mynydd on the 1901 census,a bachelor.Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated,and thanks for your time.

Dear Joyce,
I am very excited to have found a relation.Maria Ellis was my great great grandmother. Isn't she amazing! I spent ages getting travel sickness looking through the microfiches in Hawarden Record office and found her marriage certificate and some of the childrens' birth records. I tried to find Tir Gwyn in Cwm, but it's gone. Pen y Mynedd is still there. I am descended from her sixth child, Thomas, who married an Elizabeth Jones. They had seven children, all with the same names as Maria's, John, Robert, Thomas, Maria, Joseph, Margaret and William. My grandfather was their fourth child, John Noel and my father, the second child, Arthur.
Maria"s last child was a daughter called Mary, born in 1858. Two of them born after George died. Baby George's birth record says he's illegitimate, but that's probably because the father was dead. Am so excited to discover the names of Maria's parents. I was only talking about her on BBC Radio Wales on Friday.
I'd be so pleased to hear back from you.
Sorry - it's late and am a bit incoherent with excitement at finding out more about this remarkable woman
