Hi
I've got a problem that I hope someone can help with.
I couldn't find out who my gg grandmother, Sarah Ann Duckels, parents were so I sent for her marriage certificate (married William Laverack in 1844). It shows that her father was John Duckles, farmer and that she lived in Swinefleet where all the census records show her as being born.
I then found John Duckles who married Jemima Clark, who was a farmer in Swinefleet and I thought this must be her parents. BUT today I have recieved the baptism records for Swinefleet St Margarets and although all of John and Jemima's children were baptised at this chuch there is no mention of Sarah Ann however there is a MARY ANN baptised in 1825. However on the census of 1851 there is a Mary, daughter of John and Jemima who according to the census was born in 1831 but there's no baptism for a Mary around that time. On the 1851 census for Sarah Ann & WIlliam there is also a Thomas Duckels stated as brother, who was born in 1827 which would tie in with Sarah Ann being the daughter of John & Jemima. I have also checked the baptism records of Swinefleet St Mary Magdalene with no luck. All of John & Jemima's children were baptised at ST Margarets although both John & Jemima and Sarah Ann & William were married at St Mary Magdalene.
I'm beginning to question who's parents Sarah Ann's were and I can't find John, Jemima or their family on the 1841 census, or Sarah Ann if indeed she did belong to another family.
Also, on the marriage cert of Sarah Ann it states her age as being 'a minor' (she would have been 19 or 20 when she married), would that have been right?
This is driving me mad! Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Kim
