Van Der Hoeve
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 08:36 BST (UK) »
Hope someone can help me on this

Not much is known about the early generations of the van der Hoeve family except that it is thought that in the 18th century they were salmon fishers on the Rhine living in Vianen where the family seems to have made a good living. The family eventually moved to Amsterdam to set up in business.  They must have been by then considerably wealthy as it is said that they lived in a canal-side town house.  The wealth disappeared during the Napoleonic Wars and the future generations then became ministers in the Church.

Gerard Johannes Van Der Hoeve became a minister and married Johanna Jeanette Hermanides.  They had a son, Adriaan Hendrik who was born on 13 February 1870 in Spanbroek.  They later lived in Someren in Brabandt.

I do have more info but would like to try and find out about Gerard his wife & son.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

has lots of civil registration records.

The marriage of Gerardus Johannes van der Hoeve and Johanna Jeanette Hermanides  is recorded in 1863, which does note the bridegroom as a preacher. His parents, Adriaan Hendrik van der Hoeve and Clasina Verwoert

Various marriages/deaths of their children are listed.

also mentioned, death for Johanna Jeannette Hermanides, parents Renicus Hermanides  and Maartje de Jong, spouse Gerardus Johannes van der Hoeve, in 1910
death for Gerardus Johannes van der Hoeve , parents Adriaan Hendrik van der Hoeve and Clasina Verwoerd in 1916 (says he was b. Gendringen)

There is also a death for a Cornelis Marinus van der Hoeve, brother of Gerard (says he was b. Genderingen), and for their mother Clasina Verwoert in 1864  (says she was b. Amsterdam).

Some things on your Gerard:

This is about his father:

Most important part
Adriaan Hendrik van der Hoeve werd geboren te Amsterdam den 26en Maart 1803.

https://stadsarchief.amsterdam.nl/
 - has some baptism records for Amsterdam online. You need to look for "Genealogische zoeksystemen", and then "Doopregisters" (hit "Zoek").
Search for Voor = Adriaan, Achter = Hoeve.  It comes up with a 1803 record that suggests Adriaan's parents were Geradus van der Hoeve and Catharina Johanna van Santen.

There is also a possible baptisms for a Gerardus  in 1773, parents Adriaan van der Hoeve Gerritsz and Alida Havesman.   Alida and Adriaan were witnesses at the 1803 baptism, as was Henrik (I think this is another child of Adriaan and Alida, b. 1770)

www.familysearch.org
shows that Adriaan and Alida married in 1763 in Lexmond, near Vianen (Adriaan listed as "van der Hoeven").  He may be the Adriaan van der Hoeven who was christened in Vianen in 1739, father Gerardus, mother Geertruy van Noorle (Geertruijda van Noorle is the witness at some related baptisms in Amsterdam).
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
