House Florence Servant single F age 13 General domestic Servant Arborfield Berkshire

Could anyone tell me who were the parents of Florence Julia Howe Davies born 1871 in Ashburton Devon?  I have a strong believe that Florence was brought up by her cousin J Edith Hall nee Watts, either because her parents died or her mother married again.  Florence's parents may be Agnes Sophia Davies nee Watts & Thomas Roberts Davies(of Newmarket Canada married Mar q 1855 in Wokingham).  Agnes Sophia is listed on a headstone in the baptist church, Wokingham but doesnt give a date:
In loving memory of
James Watts who died May 4th 1863 aged 59
also near this spot
Maria Elizabeth wife of the above who died March 8th 1846aged 41
also of Agnes Sophia wife of T R Davies
................illegible

Can anyone spot the family on any census

Thanks regards Pauline.

you want the family post-1855 marriage ?

assume you have Agnes Sophia with her parents in 1851 Wokingham ? (James & Christiana) ?

couldnt see a Birth Index entry for Florence ?

Hi Pauline (and LKL :)),

Are you positive the middle name is Julia?

The one birth registration I can see is Florence Isabel H Davies, Jun quarter 1871 Tiverton.

This girl seems to be 1 month old in 1871, daughter of a Julia:

1871
RG10/2167 52 29
Collumpton, Devon
Gravel Walk

Lucinda Skinner, head, wid, 80, Tallow Chandlers wid, b. Devon Uffculme
Julia Davis, niece, mar, 35, Draper's wife, b. Devon Uffculme
Florence I Davis, grand niece, 1 mo, b. Collumpton
Mary Ann Blackmore, nurse, mar, 42, Nurse Carpenter's wife, b. Uffculme

I hope so!

Maybe a second marriage, possibly this one?

Marriage Dec 1870 Newton Abbot 5b 286
Thomas Robert Davies - Julia Curwood

(The 1861 census shows a 25 year old Julia H Curwood born Uffculme)

The IGI has this christening:

Julia Curwood
birth 5 March 1832, christening 25 July 1834
Uffculme, Devon
Parents Thomas Curwood and Hannah

Searching for a Thomas Curwood/Hannah marriage gives this:
Thomas Curwood - Hannah Howe
9 April 1828
Uffculme, Devon

and a Lucinda Howe marries a Robert Skinner in 1819, Uffculme

Hi

Can I just add that the 1871 census has Thomas Davis shown as a widower and then crossed out and married inserted

If the Julia Davis in 1871 is the correct one (which I'm sure she is)  is it her "death" we should be looking for

I still say you should get a copy of Florence's birth cert as there are too many "maybe's" and not enough definites
