Kneller Family
« on: Tuesday 26 May 09 17:42 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for any records relating to Frederick Kneller, born around 1818 in Bethnal Green.  I know he died in 1876.

His first wife was Sarah Humm (married 1841?) and I think he later married an Elizabeth.  However, I cannot find a death for Sarah, or a maiden name or marriage record for Elizabeth.

So far, I can only find the following:

1851 Census - 22 pleasant Place, Bethnal Green

Frank Kneller - Head - 31 - Silk Weaver
Sarah Kneller - Wife - 32
Elizabeth Kneller - Daug -  6
Sarah Kneller - Daug - 4
Frederick Kneller - Son - 1
James Kneller - Son - 21? or 1?
Henry Kneller - Son - 15

All born in Bethnal Green.

Doesn't make sense that James would be 21 because that would make his dad 12 when he was conceived!  I'm not convinced Henry is a son either.

1871 Census - 9 Sydney Street, Bethnal Green

Frederick Kneller - Head - 53 - Silk Weaver
Elizabeth Kneller - Wife - Silk Weaveress
Sarah kneller - Daug - 24 - Confectioners Assistant
Elizabeth Kneller - Daug - 26 - Dressmaker
Anna? Kneller - Daug - 16 -  Confectioners Assistant
Frederick Kneller - 21 - Cabinet Maker
William Kneller - 13 - Scholar
James Kneller - 19 - Chair Carver

All born in Bethnal Green apart from Elizabeth Kneller who was born in Lambeth, Surrey.

I'm not even sure the two censuses relate to the same family, but a lot of the names appear to be similar.

Can anyone help with any other census entries, a death record for Sarah Kneller, a marriage date for Frederick and Elizabeth, or anything else??

Thank you

Jade

Sorry to sound dim but i'm new to this and don't know how to search censuses by reference.

Is there a specific website you use?

thanks for looking for me!

Are you using Ancestry?
Search Frederic Knetter.

For the 1861 census look at Frederick Kueker born 1819  ;D The original image shows Kneller.

With him is mother Anna born 1789, which fits in well with the Ann on the 1841 census.

He is still with Sarah, so we are looking for a death between 1861 and 1871.

Thank you sooooo much!  I think they are both the same family and I would never have found them on my own!

I'm going to look for that death now.......
