Hi Gerry,
I see an Elizabeth Matthews who was christened at Faversham on 18 May 1776 to parents John and Elizabeth Matthews. There is no burial or marriage for this Elizabeth at Faversham. However, see marriage licences, below.
A brother, John, was also christened at Faversham on 13 Nov 1774 and seems to have married there during 1806.
And the following marriages from the Canterbury Archdeaconry marriage licences:
WARD, James and MATTHEWS, Elizabeth, licence dated 29 Sep 1813 - he of Minster Sheppey gent bachelor & she of the same spinster. No specification as to place of marriage was made.
MATTHEWS, John and SALT, Elizabeth licence dated 28 Dec 1760 - he of HMS Granada boatswain's mate bachelor (33) & she of Minster Sheppey spinster (22), marriage to take place at Minster, Sheppey.
But I would caution that there is another John and Elizabeth Matthews couple at Sandwich of the same time frame and may be the couple that married by licence and both of St. Lawrence in Thanet: MATTHEWS, John and DEAR, Elizabeth, licence dated 16 Jan 1770.
I hope this is of some value to your research.
Sincerely,
Susan
