Thanks everbody you have been a great help with the dating. I have attached the old woman pic again Jim, as you asked in it's entirety, the back is just plain black like the border on the front. It's a thick card about 1mm thick. This seems to be a great site for family history, glad we have found it.

Hi Rabbit ;D

Morning Milly,

I had a look at your site which was of course the National Archives. Brilliant place have you been there?

We had a day there with a friend not long ago and got all sorts of information. Really enjoyable day it was

OK.The lady is dressed in an 1880's style but the mount is 1890's.
The quality of the print I would expect to be clearer than this for 1890's,
there is blurring of the backdrop and the general appearance is quite poor.
This could be an 1890's reprint of an 1880's photo.

Wow Milly,

That is so lucky, I so want to go again, but I hate the M4 and it is a real trek from where I am!

But we will be going again fairly soon I hope  ;)

Bacup is in Lancashire, by the way, not Yorkshire, though it's not all that far from the Yorkshire border, I must admit.  Does this help with identifying the lady at all?

There is a mention of Alfred Rogers, also Mount Pleasant Wesleyan School on the National Archives site
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/A2A/records.aspx?cat=124-1534&cid=-1&Gsm=2008-06-18#-1

If you Google CEMSEARCH-uk, you will find that there is a transcription of the burials in the Mount Pleasant Wesleyan Methodist Churchyard.  Maybe you will find a familar name there.
