Can anyone help with the dating of these two family photos, with of course nothing writen on the back!!

The lady on her own has printed on the bottom 'Alfred Rogers in Mount Pleasent House, Backup, Yorkshire.'

The other family has nothing on it!!

Are these two ladies the same person, they look very similar especially around the mouth maybe they are mother and daughter! What does anyone else think.
It must be wonderful to have such lovely photos of family I have very few.
Kind regards Susan

Father's genes has produced some delicious looking children ;D

Mother is quite plain by comparison!!

I think they are probably mother and daughter and the photo of the old woman taken some years previously.

Jim'll know ;D

Hi davidwells,

Welcome to Rootschat, what lovely pictures these are!
I was struck by the likeness of the girl in the 2nd picture to her father [rh side], those eyebrows are unmistakable as are the eyes!

Where are Jim and China when you need them  ???

Hi David- welcome to Rootschat.. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Alfred Roberts appears to be a busy local photographer so probably is not going to help with the identity of the people unfortunately.  There are a few of his more interesting photos at the National Archive in Kew where he registered some photos for copyright.... see here...

http://www.rootschat.com/links/06eb/

The registration dates range from 1884-1894 so perhaps this gives a clue as to the rough date for the picture of the old lady.... ?

Hello David & welcome to RC
For dating purposes it's advised to show all of the card plus back as these
often have additional clues. The 2nd. is the easier to date as all the styles
reflect a date of around 1905-08.A lovely picture.
As an older woman the 1st. is harder to date as they tended not to follow fashion,
however from what little I can see of the card stock I would suggest 1890's but would
prefer to see all of it.
