Hi Grayt, I've just looked in the YorkshireBMD and found an Olive M. Braithwaite born 1913 in Hessle/ Hull Ref HES/85/56
if it's of any help to you??
1913 would fit in better than 1916 with the marriage date of 1933, 20 years old instead of 17??
I also have a cousin called Olive Braithwaite who was born in 1919 in Hull.
Regards,

I also just seen an Olive M. Braithwaite married a John H. Williams in 1934 in Hull.
To find the death of Olive M. Williams I think you will now have to search the records at the Record Office as I don't think the FREEBMD and YorksBMD DEATH entries are passed 1931 at the moment.

Hi wak, Thanks for the reply, perhaps I did not word my original message correctly, the Olive May I am looking for married John Braithwaite in 1933. Olive was born Olive May Williams and was either 17 or 19 yrs. old when she married, her father was Jack Williams and was a timber yard worker, they lived in Hull but cannot read the street name on the marriage certificate. Would like to find more info. on this family.

Thanks again for any help.

Hi Grayt, Sorry about my error. I obviously saw what I expected to see and not what what was actually written.
Strange that your Olive Williams married a Braithwaite and the Olive Braithwaite I found married a Williams???
Your details do not say whether you come from Hull or not but I was born there and if I can help to recognise the Street name on the Certificate then you are invited to send a picture of the written name if you so wish.
Good hunting.

Hi wak,I'm a Manchester man born in Swinton. My wife was born Vera Braithwaite in 1930 in Hull, she was adopted in 1933 after her mother Ellen Braithwaite nee Mitchell passed away, her father John Braithwaite then married Olive May Williams, in 1933 as per my previous posts. We cannot find any info. on Olive after her marriage to John Braithwaite. Any info. regarding Olive would really be appreciated.

Kindest regard,

grayt

Hi Grayt, As it happens, I'm a Hull man who has lived in Manchester (Chadderton) since 1960.
Regarding Olive May Braithwaite and family, I think the only way to find anything about them is to either check the BMD Records at any UK Record Office or L.D.S. Centre or alternatively log on to www.1837online.com and pay to view the records.
You should then be able to obtain the birth certs, the marriage cert and the death certs of Olive and John Braithwaite from the Hull Record Office.
You may also be able to contact the Hull Public library or the Council to see if they have any online records of the Electoral roles for the area.
Sorry I can't be of any further help to you.
Good hunting.

I have only just seen 'Grayt's' post from 2005 (I am a new member) but his mention of his wife's original birth name is on the verge of solving a family mystery for me. I have been searching for Vera for many years. I would really like to contact Grayt but as he was a guest I can't do so from here and I have no idea who he is. Any suggestions?,clues? or even on the offchance that Grayt might come on here again. This is really important to me.
