Robert CLAXTON interred Melbourne 1884 ??

Found the following details on a MI in Wighton Norfolk.....

In loving memory of Robert Claxton who died and was interred at Melbourne, Australia in the year 1884

Would he have been a convict??? Why was he there??? Where do I start looking for further clues???

Any advice appreciated.

There is  this death but in 1894

CLAXTON  Robt  died in 1894 at CDown( Camperdown) reg no 8741 aged 58
fathe Robert mother Elizabeth Pearce


This chap will is on  Provic, he leaves all to his wife Martha

Is  his wife Martha buried with him  as I  think  she may have remarried

Doesn't say Jenn...the grave stone [flat on ground] is hard to read....so much so that the MI has not been placed on the DVD.  Has a lovely cast iron surround.
