Lanarkshire : Cumming/Cunningham
« on: Sunday 17 May 09 02:55 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the parents and children of Jack Cumming and Annie Bell Cunningham who either come from Dumfriesshire or Glasgow and that area.

Jack born 1883 -  in Scotland
Annie Bell Cunningham born 1880, died 1925 (in Rutherglen maybe)

Their eldest child was Euphemia Crawford Cumming who married William John Pearson in Rutherglen in 1932.  They subsequently emmigrated to Australia in 1949.

Any information would be gratefully received - I am having trouble going further as I don't know any family names and the Scottish system is hard to access from here.

Many thanks for help.  I've been searching for months but didn't know how to progress further.

Have been tracing the leads given in the last reply from Scotland, and have found several Census records - I think this query should have been posted in the Lanarkshire page as that seem to be where most of them hail from.   I've got back to 1841 census but again am stuck for names.

Am doing this research for my children and this is my former husband's family not mine, so I don't have any family stories to give me a lead.

Thanks for help.

Hi

I have been researching our family tree and your email came up.

Annie Bell Cummingham married to James Jack Cumming were my Great Grandparents. Their daughter Annie was my gran and her son William is my dad, living in Glasgow. The Pearsons are in fact in Australia. My grandparents siblings are all deceased with the last dying in September this year.

I really hope you get this email as your initial was so long ago.

Welcome to Rootschat - I hope you will find lots of help and friends here.

So long ago I'd forgotten ever posting the request    ;)

- but Rootschat hasn't forgotten and here I am receiving you post.

We may well have visited you when we were in Scotland in 1978 - my former husband and I did a round of the family when we were in Glasgow.   We certainly visited Annie!

John Cumming, the elder of the two brothers died in July this year in Australia.

Both Euphemia and William Pearson have died - well obviously - they would have been well over 100 by now.  The rest of the family is still around, but I don't see them much for obvious reasons - apart from my own offspring that is!

I would be interested to hear more about your family.  I have managed to trace the Cummings back to 1810 birth of John, and the Cunningham side back to 1808, and Crawfords back to 1811.   I hope i have it all correct.

If I can help please sing out!

Hi

I was only 4 in 1978 and my sister was just born in the January. Can I ask your name or who you are related to?

Yeah, Uncle Jimmy died in July (from memory I thought Sept). He stayed with my mum and dad for a few months when he was over last.

Would it be easier if I provided an email address ? Not sure if you need to go through this website - i'm a novice !!

I have got back to mid to late 1880s so anything you have would be great. Would love to trade information. My dad is hoping to contact his cousins to meet up and see what blanks they can fill in. I am also collecting photographs as I go which I would be more than happy to share.

Lovely to speak to you and so glad you got my email

Hi

Euphemia Crawford Cumming, who married William John Pearson, was the (half) 2nd cousin of my grandfather, Robert McNaughton as they had the same great-grandmother Euphemia Duff. Euphemia gave birth to my great-great grandfather before she married George Crawford.

I've got quite a lot of information on the various descendants of George Crawford and Euphemia Duff - and there's a lot of them!  :) Any additional information would be great though.
