I am researching my O'neill ancestry and getting NOWHERE.
Not sure how long Ive been looking but it's starting to feel like theres no one who can help with my search 

Does anyone in Kildare ( especially Old Kilcullen) have it in their hearts to help a poor girl ( 47 Im still a girl) with her search.  I would be so so grateful as Im a full time carer and havent got alot of money to pay for my research. Family history is the one past time I really enjoy. except when you draw a total blank, then its frustrating.

Sorry to hear your plight, it is a costly business and a frustrating one at times, especially Irsh Ancestry.
Anyhow to the point, I have O'Nell's in my family tree, Cornelius.
If you would like further info or any help I can give I will do my best to investigate.

Bless you for replying to my post re: O'neills.  So many people have read and run, which is so frustrating.  I  feel like they are saying " oh no she has O'neill blood!!"  Only joking,  I am very proud of my Irish ancestry and am longing to find out more about them.  My mum was born here in England and never got the chance to visit her relatives in Kildare.  She longed to go, but passed away a few years ago.
Anyway, my grandfather was called William Thomas O'neill born c. 1894 in Kildare.

Father is Matthew O'neill ( according to my grandparents wedding cert)
Mother???
Brothers were John Laurence O'neill C. 1892, Matthew Oneill C. 1890

Thats all I have at the moment.  Plus the fact that there is a family grave in Old Kilcullen graveyard.  Oh and that my great grandfather was a 'cow doctor'

It would be great if there was a connection somewhere with your Oneills.

It is certainly food for thought isnt it.
My mother's maiden name was O'neill but there seems to be quite a few variations and maybe this is where i've gone wrong.  Should i also be considering O'neil  and even neill as I look at family history sites?
 John and mathious could be connected and certainly worth investigating further.  Thank you once again,

I might have found a lead on the LDS site.
My mum's uncle was called John Laurence O'neill and I have found his birth year of 1891.  I have also found a Thomas o'neill born in 1872 whose parents were Patrick Laurence Oneill and Kate Wilson. 
My grandfather had Thomas as his middle name and so there looks like they could be connected.  Could  Patrick be my great grandfather Matthew's father?  Is there anyone who would be able to look up for me?  I would be very grateful.

Bless you Audrey for taking the trouble to look up all that.  You have given me something to go on.
There is only one surviving relative of my mum's family, my aunt Mary who is in her eighties.  I know she can give me lots of leads to go on but I'm not sure where she is living now

I know the most logical thing is to obtain a birth cert for my Grandfather, but would the record be held at Kildare or in Dublin?
Are there any other records that would help me ?
Was a census done in 1901?
