Hi

Robert Grint's service number is 74114 and Fred's is 22/181 - both DLI.  Luckily both their service records have survived and make interesting reading.

Hi

The Grints in my family do orginate from Norfolk, but from the research done so far, I can't see any connection with the names you gave.

Thanks

Bob
give me some names and details and I will see  if there are any matches,  they originated from Amsterdam and I have a will  dated 1460 from
 N. burlingham. The  Grints  seems to have spread  with the Herring fishing industry in the 1940/50 's

Hi

The information I have is based on census returns - haven't got round to anything apart from that yet.

I have George Grint - born 1863 - Ellingham, Norfolk.
Thomas Grint - from census records year of birth varies between 1830 and 1837 - Latimer, Norfolk.
Jeremiah Grint - born approx. 1789 - Kirby Cane, Norfolk.

Thanks

My gt. Grandfather  George Grint  b 1848 d 1925
was married to  Amy Easter who  had
sons   Walter,  George,  Fred,  Barney and  Charles my grandfather
daughters  Clara , Rachel,   and Lily
and lived at Strumpshaw
George my Gt. Grandfather was the son of  Thomas  Grint  b 1809 who married Mary Ann Fuller in 1837 at Lakenham  and lived at Norton Subcourse
they also had  sons Arthur b 1856, Thomas b 1836,  William b 1837 and Charlesb 1847. also  daughters Harriet b 1840 and Adelade b 1832
note it seems  2 children out of wedlock  is why they married away from their village

Hello, I came across your post while looking for something else.
My grandmother on my fathers side was Rachel Grint, she married samuel Edward Read from Gorleston Mutford (census area) 1913. They had 4 boys 4 girls including my father Jack Edward Read. most of the family still live local to Lowestoft.
So I guess we are vaguely related?  I will add your information to the bits I have already.

My problem - lost the Read family 1901.   Have them 1891 and 1911 and they weren't in yarmouth workhouse in 1901 either.
