Robert (O')Connell and Jane McErlane/MacErlain
« on: Friday 15 May 09 11:29 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters

On 1911 Census at Crushybracken, Antrim,  Robert and Jane O'Connell (nee MacErlain) record that they have been married for 34 years.

An entry on AncestryIreland site shows marriage between Robert Connell of Rasharkin and Jane McErlane of Knockahana on 3rd Feb 1877 at Armoy RC, Moyle, Armoy, Co Antrim.  Witnesses were Robert McIntyre and Jane Kane.  No other details are recorded - and sadly no fathers' names.

I hoped that I could order the civil registration to obtain the names of the fathers but can find no matching entries on the LDS pilot site nor on Emeraldancestors.  I've tried all sorts of spelling variations for both names.

Could the marriage have gone unregistered, has this not been indexed yet, have I missed a spelling variation?  Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Many thanks

aidem

Aidem,
Have had a look and like you, cannot find anything close. Nearest I could find was:-

Randal McConnell married Mary McErlain in St. Marys R.C. Church, Rasharkin, on 14 Oct 1866.

hi lorna,
i have difficulty finding events on the pilot.search site as well even though the surnames would be hard to spell any other way!you have to keep hoping that as it's still only a pilot that it will be improved at some time;lets hope so anyway :)

This would seem to be my husband's great grandparents. We don't have any records about their marriage but they def lived in Crushybracken. They had a family of fifteen. One of their sons was Robert O'Connell.

Hi Carran

Good to hear from you.

This is my brother-in-law's family - his Grandfather is Michael (O')Connell  b 1884 (the Mick who appears on 1911 census with Robert and Jane at Crushybracken).

I'll send a personal message and we can hopefully exchange details on the O'Connells of Crushybracken.
