John FORD 1809 - COMPLETED
« on: Friday 15 May 09 09:40 BST (UK) »
Hello again. Can anyone locate the parents of John FORD b. 1809 or 1810, probably in Sampford Courtenay, or less likely in Honeychurch. Any other details would be very helpful to my researches. :) :)

The 1851 census shows him to be 42 and his wife Mary 38, with children William, Samuel, Rebekah & Loveday.
However, the 1861 census shows hime to be 43 and Mary 39 with children Loveday, Thomas & Richard.
The OPC for Sampford Courtenay may be able to help scroll down to the Genealogy link at this site: http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/SampfordCourtenay/index.html

Many thanks for the information. Do you know of any plans to get the remaining parishes included in the OPC scheme? :) :)

We are totally dependent on volunteers offering to be the OPC and who are willing to acquire the necessary resources. (PRs on fiche etc) We now have nearly 200 of the ancient 500 parishes covered.

Hallo GeraldinCheshire

John Ford was my 3 x great grandfather.  I see that your post about him was eighteen months ago, so you have probably discovered by now that his parents were Hugh Ford and Ann Cockeram, who married in 1800.

I have gone back another four generations (the earlier two rather tentative) and would love to exchange notes.
