Hello,  James Fergusson McConnan,  born Oct 1870 Lockarbriggs? near Dumfries,  his father Thomas McConnan occ quarryman, mother Agnes nee Clark, married 1857 Dumfries,  are these people in your tree?
I would like to know more if they are please.  I am researching the McConnan name.
Jannet McConnan married James Fergusson 1847 Troqueer & I cannot find where they all fit but think they might be related somehow :-[
Thanks for any help penpony

Could it be Conocher McGhie?

How does SP transcribe it?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

"The 1861 has the same birth place for James - Kirkmahoe"

Pam, did you notice the relationship change in the 1861 census.
