Hi,
Checking on the Flax Growers Register of 1796 in the Failteromhat website I found about 30 Russells and the great majority were in the County of Donegal.

Regards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry
Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh

My Russells appear to come from the Letterkenny (Church Hill) area of Donegal.  My branch ended up going to the Midland area of Ontario and bred like rabbits.  My wing was a William Russell c1803 who married a Maria Dever (Diver?) c1796. They were protestants as it happens.
