SPELLACY and PARLE information
« on: Monday 11 May 09 05:46 BST (UK) »
Having trouble sorting out relatives and family connections of Richard Parle and Mary Spellacy married in 1860 in Glenorchy Victoria Australia. There are lots of Spellacy and Parle families in Victoria and New south Wales and I am having trouble tying all the families together.Mary's parents are Mathew Spellacy and Honorah Maloney. If I could obtain additional information regarding parents of Mathew and Honora back in Ireland that would be fantastic also.Cannot find a current contact for the major Parle family site which provided me with vital information on the net and was dated 2001.If anyone knows someone I can contact regarding these connections I would be grateful. Thanks Erika.

Hello Erika, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but in case some of this helps, here goes:

This may be the link you are looking for, scroll down to Australia 2001 and sub heading Victoria, it mentions Richard who went to Melbourne from Ireland and gives some details of his Ancestors.

http://www.parle.co.uk/genealogy/australia-p1.htm

Cannot find Richard's death, but Mary died 1916 aged 76 at Footscray Victoria. Parents: Matthew Spellery and Honoria Moloney.

Found Offspring:

. Margaret b 1864 Pleasant Creek d 1871 aged 8 Pleasant creek.
. James b circa 1867 d 1944 aged 77 Warracknabeal Victoria.
. Matthew Jonathon b 1868 Pleasant Creek d 1940 aged 71 bendigo.
. Ann Elizabeth b ? wed 1891 Glenorchy.
. Mary b 1871 Glenorchy.
. Michael b 1875 Glenorchy (twin?) d 1875.
. Joseph b 1875 Glenorchy (twin?) d 1952 aged 76 Parkville.
. Honorah Margaret b 1877 Glenorchy.
. Maude Eleanor b 1879 Glenorchy d 1907 aged 27 Ballarat.
. Thomas Patrick b 1881 Glenorchy.

Many of their marriages and offspring are able to be found also.

Regards,

Aussie Bob

Hello,

Ann ELizabeth is registerd as PARL in 1862 #8577

Selina was born in 1861, #15294,  a daughter Eliza died in 1864 aged 5 born Glenorchy , John born Melbourne died aged 24 in 1875 This gives an apporximate arriveal date of around 1850

Thanks Aussie Bob and Robyn for your replies. Will have a look at that information you provided and see about putting more things in place for both these families.Have got most of the information for the Richard Parle children one of whom, Ann Eliza Parle was my great grandmother. She and Richard were married in Glenorchy at the residence of Michael Spellacy but I am not sure how he fits into the picture.Have printed off some information from Victorian BDM site and hope to get some answers regarding the relationship status of Michael Spellacy and the other ancestors mentioned on line.Any idea how I can follow up clues on Ann Nowlan and James Parle who were mentioned in the Parle Australian connection site?I am looking for hints on websites I can access which provide the Irish data that would pertain to these families also. Also wondered  if there are any current contact addresses of Parle ancestors I can contact.Once gain thanks for your interest and posts. Your assistance is much appreciated.Cheers.Erika.

 Hi,

There is a James Parle died aged 58 in 1871 #451

An Annie Nolan b Ireland died aged 38 in 1876 #99518 plus 2 other Anie Nolans in 1883 one aged 35 #4136 and one aged 63 #5856.

Nowlan is not common and there seems to be very few Anne Nowlan/Nowland in the Victorian records.

Thanks again Robyn for that additional information. This will enable me to get a handle on some other relatives and start to get the family in order. Much appreciated. Hadn't looked at that other spelling of Spellacy although there were certainly a few other variations in the data I got from The Victorian BDM site.Cheers Erika.

Hi Erika, I am not sure if you could follow links, from the previous site I sent, to the following one that lists Richard's death, burial and heaps of other info, so here it is,

P.S  Have you contacted Michael A Parle who runs the Parle site?   His contact details are available, address and phone number, on public directory on this link. He may be able to point you to Fred Parle who contributed the Victorian Info on Richard Parle:
