Chitterne - NASH - Look up please
« on: Saturday 09 May 09 10:02 BST (UK) »
John Nash married Mary Payne at Chitterne All Saints on 11 Dec 1833. They had a son Daniel Nash who I believe was baptised at Chitterne on 19 Aug 1838. Unfortunately I do not have access to the Chitterne registers. Can SKS help with any further children and/or the 1841/51 Census details? ::)

1841 this family are near CALNE WILTSHIRE.  Ref, HO 107,Piece 1168,Folio, 3/22, Page 3.
Ages do not fit very well but cant see another family, and also its an Elizabeth and not Mary.

              JOHN NASH 27 Ag Lab
              ELIZABETH 37
              KITTY 15
              DANIEL 6
              MARY ANNIE 4

Address, Quarry in Quernerford,
              Calne Wiltshire.

Not sure how Kitty fits in here, but Elizabeth is 10 years older than her husband.

Hi Brionne,

Thank you for having a look but I'm pretty sure that this is the wrong family. I believe that John's wife was still alive in 1852 when their last son, John was born. They had: Daniel (1838); Sarah (1842); William (1845) and John (1852). Mary died sometime after 1852 and John remarried a Jane and they had a daughter Ann in 1859.

Hello both   ;D

I couldn't find the family with only John Daniel -  and i can't see them in 1851 with Sarah and William as well  :(

Do you have them in a later census, David ?

Hi David,

Welcome to RootsChat.

I have a found Daniel and William recorded in the All Saints registers of Chitterne.  Wiliiam's baptism took place on 3 Aug 1845.

A John Nash married Mary Payne 11 Dec 1833 in Chitterne (All Saints).  Don't know if this one is yours.

No luck finding them on the census at the moment.

Nell

Mum44 -  :D thanks for your help with the 1851 Census. Are you able to help with the 1861 Census as well? John may have remarried by then .... The earliest Census entries that I have for the family are the children in 1881 (except for Sarah, who I have no idea what happened to her!)

Little Nell -  :) thank you for confirming the baptisms at Chitterne. Given that they were married in 1833 and Daniel wasn't baptised until 1838 it seems to me that they probably had more children. Are you able to check the registers for any other children?

Thanks for all you help - as a new member it is much appreciated! I notice that I appear to have posted in the wrong place - will try harder next time to get it right!!!

Thanks Mum24!  ;D

Hmm. Very odd given the consistent spelling. Any idea of what happened to Daniel Nash?

Also, I would be interested in the 1871 Census as well .... not sure that John is still alive then although Jane should be, as should their daughter Ann. ::)
