I am looking for Ralph Emmerson who was born in Crook in 1816 & died in Willington in 1894; Ralph was married to Mary Hedley who was born in France in 1815.
I know of a Thomas Emmerson who was born in Stanhope 4.1.1797 & married Jane Watson.
I think there is a family connection between Ralph & Thomas but I cannot find any evidence of this in the records I have searched.
Anyone else with information please ? --or new search ideas

Hi Lizzieann, my ggrandmother was an Emmerson. my family seem to be centered on Sunderland / Bishopwearmouth area and i can't see any link to yours, however i have posted in case you have any links in your side to the sunderland Emmersons.

my family: Mary isabella Emmerson (MyGGm) b. 1861 Sunderland = Thomas hogg Singleton.
d of: James barker Emmerson 1836 Sunderland = Ann Carter
s of: John Emmerson 1818 Bishopwearmouth = Mary legender
s of: John Emmerson = jane Wilson

Hello Diddy,
I found the Sunderland Emmersons too - but I don`t think they are the family of Ralph whom I`m looking for; I`ll have to try church records again as I feel Stanhope in Weardale is where they came from.

have ralph on all the census 1841- 1891 plus his marriage:

8/8/1835 pittington, Durham. ralph Emmerson of this parish married Mary hedley of this parish.

his birthplace is down as Crook.

have you tried the bishops transcripts on family search records:
