Just to let you know went to lds family history today.  Unfortunately the film that was supposed to have the years on for cherry street church that I need weren't on the film only later years starting 1830 which is strange because on igi thats on internet, all the others in family I'm trying to connect my Edward Richard  Mitton to are not on the film no. i ordered so don't know why the church records for 1802 to 1837 were not on the film , now i don't know what to do. ::) the man at family history was helpful and said he'd take a look at the film when he gets oppurtunity but I even looked through the years starting 1830 and there was nothing. So didn't even find the brothers and sisters that I'm hoping are Edwards.  Oh well at least tried.

Thanks for help everyone.

Hi Jayne

Have a look at the link I gave in reply #18

The National Archives has some nonconformist records online, free to search the index, you have to pay to see the image http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/

you'll find, in the index, the baptisms of Peter, Helen, Martha Turner, Louisa and James, children of Richard and Helen Mitton.  You'll have to pay to see the image of the actual page, cost £2.50, luckily they are all on the same page!

Couldn't see Edward Mitton/Mytton  :-\

Thanks they are all on the igis website with births and baptisms in birmingham, Warwicksire, and parents but the person I really want to find is my husbands ancestor Edward.Thats where i got the reference nos for the mirofilms for weseleyan church cherry street but on viewing that film its a different date to one transcribed on igi.   On igi library can't see the microfilm starting 1830 that i was given to view today. ??? Do you think the link to bmd registers you gave me will have any different information than i already have please?

The ones I've looked at give Father/Mother, parish living in, date of birth, date of christening, and who carried out the christening.

I said earlier they may be on the same page, having looked at mine, although having the same reference number are on separate pages, so £2.50 an image could work out expensive  ::)
It's worth searching the free indexes.

Next step may be Birmingham Archives, who has the baptisms for Cherry Street.

Thanks Keziahemm I thought worth a try with bmd bought £10 worth of credits but they're not all on same page and credits were soon gone.  On the national Archives they have the Cherry Street Weseleyan Chapel Birmingham and say they have the records at Birmingham library.  Is there anyway of accessing stuff from the national archives online i really have no idea how you use the online national archives. Any advice gratefully received.

Jayne

Hi All

I've just found Edward Richard Mytton on the England and Wales criminal registers in December 1856 Birmingham charged with embezzelment and sentenced to 8 months.  Does anyone know if there would be a newspaper for then that might tell me what he actually did please. ::)
