Birmingham Archives in the Central Library has the baptisms for Cherry Street Methodist Chapel 1802-1886
http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/archives.bcc
Email the archives, perhaps they will have a look for you, or maybe someone from RC will be visiting the archives.
The National Archives has some nonconformist records online, free to search the index, you have to pay to see the image

Richard is a very common name within the Mitton/Mytton clan going back to the 1400s in my records.

Thanks Nick 29 have taken your advice and have today ordered the microfilm for Cherry Street Wesylan methodist Church , Birmingham am hoping to connect Edward Richard Mitton to the Mittons already on the lds family history website as there is a gap between the age he would be born of the children of Richard Mitton and Helen. If hes not on there I'm going to have to see what other churches are in the area. If hes not on there I wonder if for some reason hes the one child of a few they didn't have christened but can't think why that would be. Thanks again.

They'll almost certainly be on microfilm, but don't worry, if you're not sure about loading and/or using the reader, the staff at the LDS centre will help you.
