I'm sorry I can't give you any more info  on the pair Brian to add to your tree.
Ambly thanks for the census, at least now I have another line to follow
if it's possible would love the census info on the couple after 1851.

Regards
Charlie  :)

Brian,

I think you have all the information on the Dowsings of Bredfield that I had (more in fact) but I was struck by your mention of my great grandfather William Rogers Dowsing and his daughter Ethel Elvina Dowsing who was your grandmother. She is my grandmother too, but I thought I knew all her children (my aunties and uncles) and their children....I never heard of a Brian being mentioned.

She had five children that I know of. Dorothy (who I believe was illegitimate) then Violet, Phyllis (my mother), Albert, and their was another brother Bill (who may have been the eldest child) who died in his early teens from food poisoning.

I'm wondering if my grandmother Ethel had a couple of families! Can you enlighten me?

I have not been able to find anything about William Rogers Dowsings death. Anyone have any ideas.

David

Dear David,
Sorry to have got you all excited / worried but I was obviously having an Alzheimer's moment back there (now modifed). I must have been writing one thing, changed my mind, and the 'my grandmother' slipped through.

My Dowsings at this period all come from Bredfield, a tiny place, so one assumes they are all related, but I can't find out where William, husband of Susannah Grimwood attaches to the rest of the clan. If you know, do let me have the info and we'll sort it out.

Again, my apologies,
Regards,
Brian

Thank you very much for that Dave.
Haven't had time to process it yet, but will do as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks !   It's a coincidence that  Isobella Mary Anne married a CF Grayston (My gg grandfather) and her father lived in East St. Ipswich because even though I have no records of anyone in my tree living there I did find a newspaper article of a Grayston (as yet unconnected) living there and committing  infanticide and suicide.
Heavy stuff  !

Thanks again  :)
