MIs - Buittle and Urr - Kinnay/Sloan/Irving/Louden
« on: Thursday 07 May 09 19:19 BST (UK) »
Hi

An Australian  member PMed me a few weeks ago for a look up in the MIs for the above parishes/names.

Unfortunately, although I have printed out the request, it doesn't have a name on it.

I've now checked the MIs but none of the particular families/dates mentioned  appear to be listed. This is probably because they had no head stone or were buried in different parishes  :-\

Also, although there were quite a few McMinns mentioned in Urr, none tie in with the description.

Dalbeattie was in Urr.

Regards

I couldn't find most of the ones that I checked and I don't have the full listing that you sent.

Hi Gadget
I think it was me who requested that information. I know William Kinnay (Kinna, McKinna) and Mary Kinnay nee Irving (Irvine) both died in Dalbeattie but a couple of their children were baptised in Buittle. 1 child James Tait Kinnay (baptism records as Kinna) I believe died as a child and he was baptised in Palnackie as listed in the Buittle parish records.
Mary Kinnay nee Irving's mother's surname was Sloan and her mother's maiden name was Louden.
William Kinnay's parents were John Kinnay (a tailor) who at last mention lived in Main Street, Dalbeattie (1841 census) and Margaret Carnan (no record of although there is a Margaret Kennan who died in Bylet).
Any help you can offer would be great.
