Hi Daphne,

Welcome to Rootschat!  :)  (I see you joined in 2008 but that this is your first posting)

The personal message system won't work for you until you've made 2 or 3 posts, if you reply on here again, then you'll probably be able to contact Lynda by clicking on the little green scroll under her avatar (the picture below her name)

Good luck with your research, and if you need any help, you only have to ask

Kind regards
Barbara  :)

Thanks for the  explaination.
I'm pleased I thought to look at threads or Lynda you'd have thought me very rude not to have replied to you.
I wonder how many other folk have never had a reply to a message because of this system. I find it a bit off putting really and wouldn't normally bother looking for a way to reply if it wasn't obvious.
As I've been researching my family for more years than I care to remember I rarely use sites like this which is why I've not posted before.

mmmm I know what you mean, it is not very clear and people often ask the question.  If you click on the wee icons at the side you can send a private email to folkes after you have made 2 or 3 posts...it took me ages to work it out myself....

keep in touch,
Regards,
Lynda

Well my freinds, I have just been checking my emails and see that the GRO have refunded my money as neither of the obvious candidates are my Mary Ellen.  So I can aarule out Mr Appleton and Mr walker.  Back to the drawing board.
Yesterday, my uncle and I were trying to check what happened to Mary Ellen as we cannot find her after the birth of her twins in 1913.  I wonder if anyone can check to see of her death is recorded round about this time.  I would be most gratful.

Thank you in advance for any help :D or ideas as to her demise
Regards
Lynda

Hello,
I was just wondering How much you know about the Goodfellow Side of your family tree? I am a Goodfellow as well. I am stuck on Thomas Goodfellow that was born in 1620 and came to America in or around 1639. I am sure he left family over in England, BUT I can't seem to locate them. Any Info would be most APPRECIATED. Thank you!   :)

hI,
I have just started to get back into my family history.
I found my Mary Ellen. She died in 18/11/1918 in Salford in the Spanish flu epidemic.
she is buried in Birtley cemetery.
I know that she had a brother called Thomas. The family came to Birtley from Cumbria supposedly to find work. a few of them were working in the mines.
regards Lynda
