Annie, I think we need help from some of those fabulous 1911 searchers.  ;D (Those who can work out who is living in the household without having to pay. ;))

I haven't mastered this 'technique' yet, so some help would be wonderful.

It's actually quite sad finding those young lads on the census - they had no idea of their fate.

Also, as Glen suggested, we need to find their immigration details. Some of the lads may have come out with their families, and some alone.

As each Australian state holds their own records we might need helpers from different states.

Do you think it might be worth posting a request on the Aussie board with a link to this thread. I'm sure lots over there would love to help.  ;D

Ruskie ... I have BMD's for all of the states.  The hard part is that most of them end at 1905 (privacy).  However, burials in the places that they signed up in may be a good thing.

Let's face it ... any little bit of information is a great help to locating living families which is what we need.

Bright Blessings

;D Good find Annie  ;D I've never seen an Irish census before. Shame, no siblings ...

Sandra - the trouble with these boys is that it depends on who they migrated with as to where we concentrate our search for relatives.

If they came to Australia alone there is a high possiblitly that they have no relatives in Australia and we need to focus the search in the UK.

If their whole familes migrated there may be numerous relatives now living in Australia so we need to concentrate the search here.  :-\

Finding their immigration records may be the best way to progress.  :-\ The only clue on your list is Hugh Ross who moved to Victoria with his parents. Does the NAA site (Mapping our Anzacs?) say where the boys enlisted?

Electroral rolls may also help follow their movements.

Good idea to strike while the iron's hot - Fromelles is all over the news at the moment!  ;D

Hi All,

I am in NSW Australia, and I have a subscription with a non anc***** organisation based in NSW, as well as my ancestry sub.  That non Anc sub has access to the 1903 NSW electoral rolls.  It is not keyword searchable, BUT If you would like some help, I will try at least for NSW based lads.  My Grandfather was SGW Bullecourt May 1917, but he returned, leaving behind his right eye and bringing back several health issues from gassing, and physical injuries including major scars, a limp and ......  2 of my Gran's first cousins were Kiwi, and served in France, neither returned.  One was kia June 1916 the other kia june 1917.

I will start at the other end of the alphabet and see what I can find!

Just Moi.
