William Fowler - baptism look up please

I would be most grateful if there is anyone with access to baptism records could look for a William Jesse Fowler born about 1873.  I've found him on census records which state place of birth as Appleton but I just can't find a birth record with a date range that fits.

There's a birth in the Abingdon Reg District, which includes the parish of Appleton:

September Q 1872 Jesse Fowler

Ref: 2c 281

Perhaps he tweaked his name a bit?

Unfortunately the baptism records for the parish of Appleton are transcribed only up to 1839 - too early for your man!
