There was a John Perks in Church Street, Lye. I think it was also known as "Jonty Perks". They started off as nail-makers in the 1860's and in the 1960's they were making springs for Lorries.
If you have access to Pat Dunn's book Lye and Wollescote 2nd Selection of old Photos, there are a couple of pictures in there.

Hi There :)
Thanks for your reply. I don`t have access to the book you mention but do you have any idea where I might get a copy ?
It would be great to be able to get a photo to put in dads memory book I am compiling. (he has alzeihmers now sadly, but we are trying everything we can to help his thinking, while he is still able to, with any clarity )
once again thankyou

Hi there,

We either got the book from Coseley archives or the Black Country Bugle office in Cradley. The ISBN number is 0-7509-2139-0 maybe your local library can get it for you.
Best wishes
