REQUESTING ASSISTANCE---PLEASE!
« on: Sunday 20 February 05 21:45 GMT (UK) »
Could someone advise me of possible next steps to locate information on my paternal grandparents, Patrick O’Connor (or Connor) and Catherine Mager (or perhaps Maher) both born in Ireland.  Patrick was born in about 1839 and died in Hartlepool, County Durham in 1914.  He and his family lived in Darlington during the 1871-91 census, and, since his first child, Alice, was born there in 1859, the family was likely there as well for the 1861 census.  Beyond that, I do not have as specific date and place of birth in Ireland for both Patrick and Catherine.  Neither am I certain as to her maiden name, nor their date and place of marriage.  Could someone advise me as to how I might proceed?  Thank you.???
EVANS: Edwin, John, William Mason, George
O'Connor (Connor): Patrick

Hello Evansnt,

I think I would try to establish Catherine's maiden name first.   You say the first child, Alice, was born in Darlington in 1859.  Her birth certificate will give her mother's maiden name and you can search in several places for the reference to send for it:

Once you are sure of Catherine's maiden name the search for her marriage will be a little easier.
