William Tizard - is he from Winterbourne St Martin
« on: Friday 01 May 09 22:12 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find William Tizard and his family.  He married Elizabeth ? around 1824 probably in Dorchester/Winterbourne.  He and Elizabeth had a daughter Emilia Jane (spelt Emily on the Censues) born c. 1826, baptised 4th March, 1826 at Dorchester St Peter.  Elizabeth died in 1829 and William remarried, his second wife being Kitty Riggs.  They had children Henry, Frances Sarah, Samuel, Sarah Hannah, Richard and William.  I have found the family on the 1841 and 1851 Censuses.  Emily is with the family in 1841 but with her aunt and uncle (Edith and Samuel Tizard) in 1851.  Samuel is listed as being born in Winterbourne St Martin.  If Samuel is Emily's uncle then he has got to be William's brother.  Kitty died in 1846 and the family seems to have split up.  I have found a Samuel Tizard in Winterbourne St Martin and his parents were Richard Tizard and Sarah Travis (married 12th March, 1795, Winterbourne St Martin).  Could these possibly be William's parents.

Could anyone please help with any marriage/baptism look-ups?

Thanks
Wendy

Was William alive for the 1851 census? The 1841 census suggests he was born 1796-1801 in Dorset.

Here are two possibilities, one in the 'wrong' place and one at the 'wrong' time:

16 Jan 1791    William s Thomas and Ann Tizard in Winterborne St Martin
29 July 1798    William s William and Ann Tizard in Broadmayne (10+ miles from W St M)

Possible marriage:

19 Sep 1820    Frampton
William Tiz(z)ard
Elizabeth Soper       Witness was John Soper

There are at least two William/Elizabeth Tizards having children at the time, although this one may be connected:

Baptism   Winterborne St Martin
7 Apr 1822
Rebecca d  William and Elizabeth Tizard (carpenter)
