DOLPHIN's of Aston B'ham

I have just returned back to my family research after about  a ten year lay-off. I would appreciate any help for a silver surfer to catch up on technology :-) AND what is available these days in terms of Parish records?

My previous research stopped with my 2nd Gt. Grandfather Thomas DOLPHIN b. 8/11/1845 (62 Honey St, Aston) who later pops up in various censors. He married Hannah Massey from Cheedle in 1853. Thomas's birth cert. shows his father as John DOLPHIN & mother Elizabeth DOLPHIN nee Wallis both of Aston, Birmingham.

I would appreciate any help - thank you.

All the information you have posted fits in with other information I already have, also I can progress the family though birth certificates up to the present day.

I did not know about the remarriage of John in 1849 to Phoebe or her subsequent death by the 1861 census when he is shown as a widower and a lodger but still a printer. Also it shows him being born at Tamworth.

It is I think quite possible that the birth you found in 1803 could well be him. Tamworth I would  imagine would have have been a very small town at that time and there would not have been many John Dolphin's to speak of?

It does give me lots of food for thought - and avenues for probing further.

Before I left the UK I gave all my reseach documents to a relative so I will have to get copies of all the birth certificates etc and start to back trace and prove the links.

I have managed to find a David & Ann (nee Edwards) Dolphin married on 9/10/1786.

But I now have a bit of a dilema inasmuch that thier place of marriage and subsiquent children,  (Other children James, Ann, Hannah, David) are all shown as being born at TaNworth, Warrickshire. I find there is a place called Tanworth south of Birmingham.

Has the LDS confused the two and they are different families. If the latter then is the date of birth of John shown 3/10/1802 at Tamworth valid? And does the trail on LDS finish with him at  Tamworth as he may not be related to John & Ann from Tanworth despite the cross indexing on the LDS.
