Hi

Are these actually St Mary's church and church yard?  I think from the date that they must be, because it's before the cemeteries were open.

If that's the case, I've been looking at a couple of these nyself.  Most of the stones have been moved, though some are incorporated in the paving.  Many of the ones inside have been covered uip.

However, I've been told there is a  transcript.  I just haven't had time to follow it up yet.  When I do - hopefully in the coming few weeks or even days, if you  don't have it, I will look yours up as well.

I hope we can help.

Best wishes

Emms,

Thanks for that,

The two entries are shown on  Cumberland Roots website as
'Wigton St Mary's Church     Burials 1813 to 1855 inc'
http://members.madasafish.com/~cgrs/WIGBUR.htm

I also have another one
Entry No. 2864 ; DAMICAN? Hugh ; 92 ; 1878 ; Page 145 but that is in
Wigton Cemetary

Any help would be gratefully received

Thanks

Hi Tony

I did actually manage to get a look today.

Not much more information I'm afraid.

The two children were buried in the St Mary's Church burial ground and just given as died in Wigton.  Signed by the same clergyman as all the others.

Hugh was in the cemetery register, given as haviong died in the woekhouse and buried in the Roman Catholic ground, presumably part of the cemetery as it has a cemetery plot code and the very old RC parish would probably have been using the cemetery by then.

I'll see if I can dig up anything else.

Transcript below.:
