Jones family tree
« on: Thursday 30 April 09 15:52 BST (UK) »
Trying to find details of my ancestors living in Treboeth Swansea. Henry Ernest Jones of 1 Roger Street Caersalem Llangefelach Road Swansea married a Elizabeth Ann Hughes of 1 Quar Treboeth Swansea on 26th November 1892 at Mynyddbach Independants Chapel. Cannot find them on 1901 census, they were still living at the Treboeth address when Elizabeth died in 1907.

how old were the couple at marriage and what was Henry's occupation?

Do you know of any children that might help the census search?

I have their marriage certificate. Henry was 21 and his occupation was Labourer. Elizabeth was 22.

They had 5 children but i only have details for my grandmother. Have looked and cannot find any referrence to them on the 1901 census.  I only found the birth records for my grandmother Hannah Goergina Jones born August 1897 registered in Swansea in October 1897.

Dont know if you can find anything for me.

If they're there, they're very well hidden ::)

What are the details for Henry's father in the vague hope that finding him on an earlier census might help find him in 1901 ?

Henry's father was a Cornelius Jones born 1833 in Much Marcle, the marriage certificate states Cornelius was a farm labourer.

well, I've found him in 1881 & 1891, but still can't spot him in 1901.

Have you tried searching by address?

Hello Nikki1071
When the time comes you can add the following details to your tree from the Mynyddbach Chapel Burial Records:
    Burial Ground 3:
    09 December 1907 (Burial date), Jones, Eliz; 36(age), Row: 11, Grave: 49, Quar, Treboeth(Notes)
    12 March 1948 (Burial date), Jones, Henry; 76(age), Row 11, Grave: 49, 28 Geriol Gdns.(Notes)
Next time I'm passing the chapel, with time on my hands, I'll look for the plot and attempt to photograph it, but don't hold your breath!

If you live within reasonable travelling distance of Swansea, contact me by PM and I'll send you details of the Burial Ground layout.

Found this while looking for Jones's in Mynyddbach. Could there possibly be two Henry E Jones's married to two Elizabeth Ann's on Rogers St? One Henry who died in the late 1930's and an Elizabeth Ann who died in the early 1930's? Found a Henry E Jones who had a daughter Elizabeth Ann, and sons Henry Evan, Brinley, and Donald Jones, while looking into the WW1 history of RAMC enlistees on the roll of Caersalem Chapel. Could your Hannah be part of that family perhaps?
