Hi,
I am looking information on the family of Robert JONES, born about 1808 in Cilcain (Cilcen) and married to Eliza (b 1812). Robert was a miner and they lived around Gwernaffield near Mold. On the 1861 census, they were living in Llyn Y Pandy. They had several children: John (1839), Elinor (1841), Sarah (1843), Elizabeth(1845), Margaret (1847), Thomas (1850) and Robert (1853) and Ann(1856).
I am trying to prove whether or not Ann Jones, the youngest of their children was my husband’s great grandmother. William EDWARDS married Ann JONES in 1883 in Liverpool, and eventually moved to America Farm, Gwernymynydd.
All I know of William’s wife Ann is that she was living at 15 Alton Road, Oxton on the Wirral at the time of her marriage. This is the address of a retired merchant on the 1881 census, so she must have been in service there. Her father is Robert JONES (deceased), miner on the certificate, which would fit with the JONES family from Gwernaffield. Her birthplace is recorded as Garth, Flintshire on the 1901 census and Mold, Flintshire on the 1891 one. I’ve recently found out that there is a Garth in the Gwernaffield area, so it points to her being from there.
My father in law remembers that his father had cousins in Gwernaffield by the name of MORRIS which would have been through Ann JONES – maybe children of one of her sisters?
Are there any descendants of Ann JONES or her siblings out there who can tell me whether or not she married William EDWARDS?
Thanks,
Buffy
