Restoration
« on: Wednesday 29 April 09 13:14 BST (UK) »
There are some fantastic restorations and colouring of old photos here.   Is everybody using photoshop?  and if so, how long on average do you spend restoring a photo?

Heep up the good work!!

Hi Blackbird  :)

I think we all use a variety of different packages,  though many of us do use one version or other of Photoshop.

The time to do a restore varies - from 1/2 hr or so for a very simple colour/contrast adjustment to many weeks for a difficult restore and colour.

Hello Blackbird

I have Photoshop CS 2 Premium.
It's the only one I've had experience of and my technological expertise is a joke, so normally I only use a few simple tools.

My initial restores are painstakingly slow because I prefer not to rely on short cuts.

Colourising (for me) only comes after the restore and I will always adjust & tweak when necessary.

I view each photograph as a whole, with every part interacting and changing as I work.

Hope this makes sense

Rachel
