Thanks chrisj1961 and jksdelver, all suggestions are very plausible so it could be the proverbial haystack, but I've just sent an email enquiry to the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust, to see if they can offer any help.

Many thanks, and I'll let you know of any developments,
Colin

I've heard from the Hospital Trust and they say that medical records are only kept for 8 years after a patient's last attendance. They also explained that during World War 1 many other buildings in Leeds were used as hospitals, such as hotels, and it's possible that WYAS might have some information.

Does anyone happen to know what records might be held by the WYAS, and whether the  place of treatment would need to be known?

Regards,
Colin
