The one for Gilbert simpson is not your one as he had a wife Mary and was born abt 1872.
Was worth a try - especially how the names nearly tie up so well. I wonder if he is somehow still related... maybe down the track we will see

You are so right - I am most pleased with the info on marriages! Esp now have some names to go by.

To put a bit of perspective on things - James Bannister Simpson b. abt 1884 is my Great Grandfather.

Hi Jazzie,

William and Rachel's son James Bannister SIMPSON died 12/11/1954
So I will go hunt a death notice out for him.

He was cremated so am going down to the crematioium gardens to take a photo of the plaque and then I will be able to see if any other names are on it.

Newbe

Yay for finding out this date ... I am still wondering where he was buried .. and whether his 2nd wife Jessie May Bedford is with him....

The one for Gilbert simpson is not your one as he had a wife Mary and was born abt 1872.
Im now thinking that the probate must also be the wrong one for Gilbert Simpson as that is dated 1947 too.
Gilbert must have died 1948 as per BDM Index aged 70y

Name: LONG Ernest Robert and SMPSON Isabella fletcher
Date: 2 Nov 1904
Place: House of William SIMPSON, Carrside?, Kaiapoi
Age: 27, 24
Status: Bach, Spin
Birth Place: Auckland, Scotland
Res: (Present) Wellington, Kaiapoi
        (Usual)    Wellington, Kaiapoi
Parents: Daniel, Farmer,   Catherine nee FIZPATRICK
              William, Warper, Rachel nee BANNISTER
Witnesses: William John HENRY
                  Mary Laimont BRIAN

Minister: William Mc Donald
This is very interesting as this is the right Isabella but when I look up BDM for that Isabella Fletcher Long there was one that died in 1963 aged 76 but those dates don't tie up ... hmmmmm

Also thanks KHP for the info on Jessie May Simpson's dod and burial whereabouts.

Newbe - just wondering if you have time and access to the Kaiapoi Public Cemetery Source Fiche record, would  you mind looking up a Joyce Isabell Simpson died about 1917 aged 10mths and a James Bannister Simpson died about 1915 aged 3 days. They are supposedly the children of James Bannister and Jessie May Simpson (my nana's parents). Im just wondering if they buried them in Kaiapoi.

I am back from thecrematorium after getting the photo of the plaque for James Bannister SIMPSON and death notice.

Can you PM me an email address or would you just like me to attach it so every one can see the photo.

I will write up the death notice after dinner.

I had a look at that one ..... that one has no middle name ...... so your Isabella should  have both names included.    The 1963 one was buried in Birkenhead/Glenfield Cemetery.

The only thing I have found on a Ernest Robert Long is this:
