There is a potted biography on the link that I have already posted, Lesanne, but in terms of the site, it is actually quite a lot of information.

Perhaps the Dictionary of National Biography at the library might be your next port of call.  It never does to neglect the library  ;)

Is this man related to you in some way?  It would be nice to know why you are 'chasing' him.  At least there is a lot of information out there about him. Some people aren't so lucky!

There is a Dundonald Road in Broadstairs named after the Earl. His son was born here, not sure how long they stayed though.

For those who do not know, the Earl of Dundonald is Chief of the Clan and Name of Cochrane (which to date has over 80 variant spellings).

The 15th (and current) Earl is currently in the process of strengthening the Clan worldwide, and especially in the UK.  For those wishing to know more about the History of the Cochranes, the Clan website is www.clancochrane.org
