I would like to confirm what Dave has said, there is a small parish in the north east of the county which is Redisham (and in former times was often referred to as Great Redisham) the parish church is dedicated to St Peter.

The population in the mid 1800s was 165.

The hamlet of Little Redisham has been incorporated into the nearby parish of Ringsfield.

Unfortunately there is no volunteer for Redisham at the Suffolk Look Up Exchange although there are only 6 fiche in total covering baptisms, banns, marriages and burials from 1537-1900 - could be worth buying those you need from the Suffolk Record Office  ;D

No problem Amber39  ;D

If you locate the market town of Bungay on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders, then Redisham is about 4 parishes south east.

(Might have 'cheated' slightly as I have a head start - I am the Recorders' Secretary for Suffolk Local History Council and look after Local History Recorders in parishes throughout the county - I have to know them all)

Hi

I had a look for Walter's baptism at the records office today but he does not appear to have been baptised at Redisham, sorry.

Anne

Thanks Anne for looking at the records for me.
This family had a habit of having children baptised sometimes years after their birth so I guess this could have been the case with Walter.
