Parry Family - Davenham area
« on: Thursday 23 April 09 10:49 BST (UK) »
Hi

Having successfully traced my own family via this wonderful site I am now helping a friend to trace her ancestors.  She thinks that her Great Grandmother Mary Hannah PARRY lived at Gadbrook Hall Farm which may be near Davenham or Billinge.  Does anyone know if this place still exists or is there a Gadbrook Hall Farm anywhere else in the Cheshire Area?  I cannot find it on Google.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Blackpoollass,

Would this baptism at Davenham fit - you don't give any dates?

8 Aug 1869 Mary Hannah PARRY dau of James & Elizabeth PARRY, farmer of Davenham

There are a number of other children baptised to the same couple, see: http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/ - baptisms only go up to about 1871.

Possibly MI at Davenham church:

James PARRY of Shipbrook Hill - 9th June 1907 aged 77.  Also Elizth his wife, 8th January 1906 aged 69.  Also son Edwin James March 1878 aged 6.  Also Thomas husband of Sarah PARRY - June 1st 1928 aged 64.  Also daughter Frances Alice October 25th 1934 aged 53.

Hi
Thanks for the useful information and the links.   It looks as if it could be the same family but possibly an earlier generation.  The Mary Hannah PARRY I am looking for married a John BUCKLEY but this could have been away from Cheshire - possibly Prescot.   At the moment no exact details are known.   Kind Regards.

Hi Blackpoollass
Just a link to ariel view of northwich and surrounding area but if you see davenham go right and put mouse on the blue whatevers there are two one above the over that is shipbrooke road and if you go to the three next to them that is now called gadbrooke park, i do not remember hearing of gadbrooke hall but there were a few farms, we used to run past most of them on school cross country runs.

Hi  Many Thanks for your help.   I have also looked at an old Cheshire Tithe map (see link on East Elworth posting) and Gadbrook Farm now seems to be called Pear Tree Farm Cottages so the mystery is solved.  The helpful information posted by JDGen is now being looked into by my friend who is hoping to visit Davenham Church in the near future.  At the moment she is concentrating on the PARRY family but there is also the BUCKLEY family to be traced too.  Kind Regards.
