Hi Matt,

Just my thoughts - there is something wrong with his hands, see how they are falling, its not natural.  I have stood in front of the the mirror and tried to recreate the hand pose, and its just not working.  The fingers to the joint are too long, especially the little finger.  Or maybe I have odd hands - but try it for yourself. 

If there is something not quite right there it may give you a clue as to what could be wrong with the poor wee lad.

Do you have her story because she definitely seems to have an air of saddness about her in both photos.

The fingers on the left hand look stunted compared to what I can see of the right ..... maybe its my imagination.

Hi again everyone

I think the lady in the pictures looks very sad too...particularly in the latter. Maybe in this pic, the little boy had died? It will mean me chasing up the children (there were around 7 boys) but I will get onto that during summer or before if I can find the cash lol.

IF this woman is Margaret Ann Quinn nee McGuigan then this photo was takennot long before she died. Her death certificate for 1907 states that she was 45 at the time of death, but I think she was more around the age of 55 (who knows what happened there!) She was born c1850 in either Scotland or Ireland. My guess is Ireland. I dont know exactly when she came to Scotland if she was born in Ireland but she was definitely there in 1870, although may have gone back to have her first child,Henry, around 1871.

PS - Hey there kiwi, studies are going well, have started revising for my exams now so wont be here as often as I have been No more new stories yet but I started to write the book re the blog, I have found a lot more out but will not disclose for obvious reasons lol. How are you doing?
