Hello. I am a McCabe, born in Ireland and very distantly related to the decendants of John McCabe, father of Thomas McCabe. John’s brother, James was my great, great grandfather, born in Clonmore, Old Leighlin, Co Carlow. My line of McCabe’s did not emigrate, but I now live in Australia.
James left Ireland in 1840’s with all of his children, except Michael, to work in the Wool Factories in Bradford, UK. Michael survived the famine on the family farm in Carlow. James and his wife returned to Ireland in old age. John also spent some  time working in Bradford after his wife died during the famine, before he emigrated with the younger children in 1860. He must have been a tough man.
Would love to see the photos of Thomas McCabe and Harriet Jarrett.
