Hi,

I'm not sure but I think you are saying that your grandfather was born in 1899, not that that is the date of his marriage?

Here is a possible birth registration.

Sep 1899, Easington, 10a/494
James Arthur Williamson

I will have a look for him in the 1901 census.

Yes. Seaham Harbour is Durham and Easington would be the right registration district.

Here is a very likely family in 1901.

George D Williamson, 28, Ship Worker,
Maria, 25
James A, 2
George D, 8 months

All born Seaham Harbour.

Hang on whilst I look for George and Maria's marriage....

A possible marriage:

Mar 1898, Sunderland, 10a/860
George Davison Williamson
Maria Johnson

Can your dad remember the names of any of his uncles or aunts on the Williamson side. It might help in finding them in the 1911 census.

Hello Barbara,

Can you see them in 1911 because I can't. Think they may have been wrongly transcribed.

Hi Jen, wasn't looking, was trying to find James Arthur's marriages, as that would be the best way to go to be sure of finding the right father for him.  Will have a look now.  :)
