Hi lorraine,
Southern Cross is about 10 kilometers from Koroit on the south Victorian coast.  A quick search at the site below shows there are 2 PATON families still in Koroit.  Others may be in the vicinity.  A letter or call may be all it takes. I will pm you the Koroit.  names & numbers.

You may be able to search by the ship title on this site http://www.list.jaunay.com/ausnzpassengers/

Worth a try.

I know it seems long, but the address below will save time as it's a short cut to the victorian gov search shipping site:

http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide051/PROVguide051.jsp

Once you find the site save a bookmark! This NSW site below will give you access to unassisted arrivals :

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/asp/searchform.asp?id=43

but only for surname then first name, and only in the early years, I think. Look around for the keyname search also which will show everywhere a name is mentioned.
the assisted passage ships site is:

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/search_1656.asp

Remember, the whole Eastern coast of Australia was New South Wales at one stage. Port B. is probably Botany Bay.
Who's having an invasion then? Pity there is no literal checker sometimes !!
Must say thanks to all those who have helped me search for my English kin,
cheers from sunny oz :o :P :-X

If this is related to Port B on the Vic immigrants list - it means from a British Port
