;) You are very welcome - glad it helped someone!
Found it by accident so to speak.
Live in Oz but my ancestors are in England or Ireland.

Hi Janet B,
Brilliant, have just found 2 of my ancesters on board THE GOTHIC from England to Port B. (don't know where that is) in April 1912. Mrs Elizabeth Bacon and daughter, Mary Amelia Bacon.  However the husband, FRANCIS BACON is not shown in the records, I've tried a couple of years earlier too. Elizabeth & Mary were on assisted passage list, is it possible that Francis would be unassisted? I was unable to access the unassisted list on line. I know he was in Victoria at the time, there 2nd daughter, Dory May was born May 1913 in Richmond. Do you know if it is possible to trace the English port that THE GOTHIC sailed from? The family were from Bridgwater, Somerset.
Many thanks Janet,
Kind regards,

Hi folks :)
I am glad that the site is proving useful! I haven't used it so I cannot offer any advice in that quarter - sorry!
Not sure if there is any way to track where the ship left from - have you tried putting the ship's name into a search engine like Google?
Perhaps someone who has used the site  can assist Jim.
cheers
Janet ;)

The prov site covers the Victorian archives. There are lots of things available - not just shipping lists to help track your family.
THis is the link to all the online indexes (including shipping)
http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide023/PROVguide023.jsp

If you find something and would like further details, they can in many cases be purchased, or you could post a separate message online looking for someone who visits the archives. (I hate to generate more work for one of the best Oz rootschatters but can't think of another way to say how fabulous she is - having checked a number of things for me).
