A little Win!!! Yay!

Good morning all!

Just wanted to share a little joy with you as I know you'' appreciate it.

Just shy of 3 weeks ago I requested and paid for about 10 transcriptions (some full, some partial and a couple of early church records) re my dad's family.

Got them yesterday. I have now filled in a couple of gaps - in particular 2 children who died before they were 3. The signs were there that I had the right family but it is soooo satisying to find I was right!!

Couple of confirmations of dates and quite a number of new avenues to explore. I was becoming quite discouraged with dad's rellies so I am now very happy to have found them and be able to go further.

Thanks for that - it's good to be able to extend the tree a little.

Mum was an only child and Dad was youngest of 5 - 3 of whom never married and one who did but her son (my 1st cousin) has passed away having not married or had children himself - so there's really only me and my 2 bro's. It might be nice to find  some more closeish (is that a word?) cousins.

It's an often frustrating and "brickwall-y" hobby but it's ever so much fun - the anticipation just about kills but it is ultimately oh-so-satisfying!!!

Congratulations, Julie. Lovely how suddenly things open out, and you have new trails to follow!

I've found the searchers in the chatroom incredibly helpful if I can't find something.  Last night, for example, they found a marriage which I've been seeking for ages. I had just about given up and started thinking that the couple never did marry: she had three children  - probably by him -  prior to the marriage and by the 1871 he was back living with his mother!  But lo, the marriage was found in the Suffolk BTS.

 Invariably when I'm totally stuck, I can go in there and come out smiling and clutching new information! So thanks to all you RC searchers, whether on the boards or in the chatroom; your help and encouragement are very much appreciated.

I hope that you'll share the results with all the people who have been helping you on various threads (don't know if any of these transcriptions are related to your requests on the Australia board??).

Many of us get quite involved in helping other people with their family history, and can be almost as excited as they are about new information which has been discovered.

Yes, this "little win" relates directly to a thread I have on the Australia board. As usual with rootschat everyone has been most helpful and I'm maybe looking at another win soon!!! Lots more threads to follow.
