Widening my search for John TRODD b1765

(I have also posted this on the Hampshire board but have had no luck so far so I'm widening my search).

On the 1841 census John TRODD is living in Weston, St Mary Extra, Hampshire, aged 76 and not born in Hampshire.

HO107 piece 402 folio 11/29 page 7

 Sadly he died before the 1851 census so I have no pob for him.

He married his wife, Martha, on 4th March 1794 at St Mary, Southampton. Their first children were born in Itchen Ferry Village which was a small fishing community just east of Southampton.

I haven't been able to find a baptism for John around 1765 in any transcription for Hampshire so I believe he wasn't born in Hampshire, although TROD(D) is a local name.  Nor have I been able to find anything on the IGI.

If he was a mariner or fisherman, when he was younger, he could have originated from anywhere along the coast. 

I'm really stuck!  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm still no nearer finding John's birth place. 

I recently posted on the Hampshire look up requests board to see if there is any sign of him (& others) on the Isle of Wight.

I have just reread your original post and you ave a date for the Marriage of John and Martha

on 4th March 1794 at St Mary, Southampton

where does this information come from as I don't have this information.

I have also been told they had another child

MARIA: born 1793 at SOUTHAMPTON. PARENTS: JOHN & MARTHA. DIED: 1798 aged 5yrs.

But this would have been before the date of the marriage that you have. I haven't seen any records for this child though.

Do you have a surname for Matha?

 John TRODD married Patty DAGWELL 4th March 1794 at St Mary, Southampton.

Patty is a pet name for Martha

Many Thanks for the clarification I had never linked Martha and Patty as names before so thanks for that.

With regard to John being not born in county the form I have for the vaccination of Agnes Cozens in 1864 shows the parish as Hound and the County as Southampton.

So could just mean he was not born in Southampton rather than Hampshire!
