Are you still doing your family tree, only my nephew found an item whilst metal detecting in the hop fields near Canterbury on Thursday 17th December 2015, to which belongs to a T. Wickenden from WW1 & on searching the web I came across you looking for the Wickenden family that had been in hop fields, all my nephew what's to do is reunite this item to his family. Hope to hear from you regards Marion

Hi Marion,
Thank you so much for the message.   Yes I am still doing research although most of it is now on Ancestry.   There were two Thomas Wickendens in my family, one born in 1849 and one in 1884, it was the latter who fought in WW1.   He was with the Rifle Brigade and seems to had 3 service numbers, 1556,  31806 & 48660.  He served in France, Malta and India.
He was born in Gravesend in Kent but lived most of his life in Croydon.   I must leave it to you to judge whether or not the item concerned (a medal?) belongs to my family.
