Almost certainlythe reason you cannot find a christening is that the family were Baptists, who of course don't baptise infants only adults. My reasoning is the mention of two prominent Baptist families, the Phillips (a witness at the marriage which had to be C of E whatever the couple's religious affiliations)and the Evills. The Baptist chapel in Melksham has been around since the early 18th century, their records are held at Kew with copies at Wiltshire Record Office in Chippenham.
You mention a Hannah West. This is the first time I have been on this site so don't know of earlier postings. My Wests are from Gloucestershire and married the Evills. Baptists kept things among themselves both family and occupation wise and the same names keep cropping up.
