Thank you for explaining about the post-1858 wills. I'll keep a note of that web-site.

Thank you for your kind offer - I will always contact you if I need help in obtaining Charlotte's will.

Dont' forget if there is ever anything I can look at for you in this neck of the woods  ::)

All your help much appreciated......

Almost certainlythe reason you cannot find a christening is that the family were Baptists, who of course don't baptise infants only adults.  My reasoning is the mention of two prominent Baptist families, the Phillips (a witness at the marriage which had to be C of E whatever the couple's religious affiliations)and the Evills.  The Baptist chapel in Melksham has been around since the early 18th century, their records are held at Kew with copies at Wiltshire Record Office in Chippenham.
You mention a Hannah West. This is the first time I have been on this site so don't know of earlier postings.  My Wests are from Gloucestershire and married the Evills.  Baptists kept things among themselves both family and occupation wise and the same names keep cropping up.

Hello Ros - a warm welcome to Rootschat.

Many thanks for the interesting information you have given me re the Baptist affiliations - I am sure your reasoning is correct.

Whilst I have found the BMD Registers to be most helpful when tracking my myriad of Non-Conformists  I have not yet found a baptism for Charlotte Mason. I shall now contact the Wiltshire Record Office or Kew.

Re Hannah West who married Henry Sealey in Enfield, Edmonton in 1830 her birth-place is sometimes given as Bath and in one document as Milson, Wiltshire.

Thank you again for your assistance - much appreciated.
